2001-2002 marked TRP’s 50th season, an achievement for an arts group of any size. The theater celebrated this milestone with a special slate of titles and directors and the largest capital campaign in its history, transforming its home into one of the most attractive and accessible theatres in the area for audiences while improving technical shops and adding facilities for its artists.

Beginning in 2006, a new tradition of having an Agatha Christie mystery in each season was born. Christie fans from across the region came to know TRP as the place to see their favorite Christie characters come to life. In 2013, the annual mystery production was moved to the holiday slot and became a holiday-going theatre tradition for many patrons.

In 2019, the theatre achieved one of its longest-standing goals through the largest capital effort in its history — the Restoration and Mural Project, the first major exterior repair and renovation of its 100+-year-old building. This four-year project was completed in 2019, making TRP’s home structurally sound for its next century, with striking 3D murals that transformed the building itself into a work of public art.

The theatre commissioned artist John Pugh, who has won international acclaim for his work in trompe l’oeil, a style which uses realistic imagery, perspective, and other techniques to create a three-dimensional effect. In seeking a simple and iconic image to depict Theatre in the Round Players and its unique arena stage, Pugh imagined a show literally in-the-round — inside a globe.

2019-2020, TRP’s 68th Season, marked the anniversary of its 50th year on the West Bank. Tragically, the season was cut short right before the opening of Great Expectations.
