Readings in the Round: The Chameleon Theatre Circle's 23rd Annual New Play Festival

About the Festival: Since 2001 The Chameleon Theatre Circle has been holding a New Play Festival providing audiences the opportunity to hear the winners of their annual competition. This is also an opportunity for the playwright to hear audience feedback as they work on revisions and further development of their play. This year they are collaborating with Theatre in the Round as Chameleon relaunches the festival to an in person gathering. 

About the Series: Readings in the Round is a series of staged readings of new plays featuring local talent. Staged readings are an important part of the play development process and TRP is happy to support artists in this way.

Readings in the Round: Endometriosis: the Musical

About the Show: The breakout hit of the 2022 Fringe Festival, Endometriosis: The Musical returns to TRP for a staged reading (singing?) of a new full-length version. Following the journey of one woman searching for a diagnosis for her chronic pain, Endometriosis: the Musical is a humorous and playful look at the deeply flawed world of healthcare and the complex, and oftentimes infuriating, realities of navigating a system built for anyone but you.

About the Show: In this Pulitzer-Prize winning drama, Vivian Bearing, Ph.D., a renowned professor of English who has spent years studying and teaching the brilliant and difficult metaphysical sonnets of John Donne, has been diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer. 

About the Company: Hypnic Jerk Theatre seeks to do work that continues and extends conversations about the world around us. Our desire is to extend the artistic work that we do to discussion, awareness, and action about our local and global world.
