Auditions are open to everyone in the community. All roles are unpaid.

All roles in each production are available -- no roles are pre-cast. Of last season's total 136 roles, 73 roles, including principals, were cast with actors who had not previously acted at Theatre in the Round.

TRP hires professional artistic directors for each production. The artistic directors conduct their own auditions and callbacks, so the process varies from show to show (e.g., readings from the script vs. prepared monologues). All casting decisions are made solely by the director. The theatre encourages its directors in diverse casting (ethnic/racial background, gender, disability, etc.).

Scripts are available to read at the theatre during weekday business hours and at the audition. Scripts cannot leave the building.

Special note about conflicts:
Directors need to know all possible conflicts BEFORE they can cast a show (keep in mind that some directors will not accept conflicts submitted after the first readthrough). Please bring your calendar to the audition so you can list all your possible conflicts.

Unless otherwise noted below, the front door is unlocked at 6 pm and auditions begin at 7 pm, continuing until everyone is seen. No appointments: people are seen in the order they arrive.

Enter the building through the main entrance on Cedar Avenue (do not park in the lots adjacent to the building) and register with the Board member at the reception table. An acting resume and headshot are preferred but not required. If you need access services, please call ahead.
