One of the oldest theatres in the state, Theatre in the Round Players, Inc. (TRP) has established a national reputation and has received numerous awards for artistic and managerial excellence.

Its unique arena was described in the Los Angeles Times as a model which "should be studied by everyone considering doing the same, so well does it master the pluses and minuses of the tricky in-the-round form..."

TRP's year-round schedule of mainstage productions is produced by professional artistic directors and more than 300 volunteer artists, designers, and technicians, supported by 80+ volunteers behind the scenes — box office staff, house managers, committee and Board members.

Now in its 61st season, TRP continues to provide quality theatre for thousands of audience members, as well as opportunities and resources for artists and performing groups throughout the region.

From an article posted on EXAMINER.COM by Brad Richason, arts reviewer:
"Of the many esteemed performance-based arts organizations in the Twin Cities, few can claim the level of community support engendered by Theatre in the Round Players (TRP). Over the course of 58 seasons, the venerable organization has steadily pursued its calling to provide a platform for local talent and emerging artists. Operated in large part by volunteer support, TRP has earned its reputation as a bastion of a critical ideal: that dramatic arts belong -- not to a select few -- but to the community at large.

Credit for Theatre in the Round's longevity goes beyond mere ideals, however, to the exceptionally consistent caliber of their productions. Offering up season after season of challenging, often overlooked works, the unassuming organization has established a rewardingly diverse legacy that favorably compares to even the highest profile groups around the Twin Cities. Better still, thanks to its dedicated arena staging, TRP offers an in-the-round intimacy with the entire audience."
